It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Rene Rogers.
Rene lived at Mount Pleasant Farm and then at Town Farm cottages before moving to Halesworth. Rene passed away 28th March at her home in Halesworth.
The funeral service of Rene Rogers took place on April 12th. The church was full of her relatives and many friends. Bill Mahood took the service with readings from her family.
"With the passing of Rene we have lost a friend and helper who picked fruit and vegetables at Ash Farm for over 15 years. Her main task before she retired was weighing and packaging fruit and serving in the Farm Shop, always with a sense of humour. As a country girl and gardener she was amused that some customers didn't know how some produce grew, whether it was above or below ground, on a bush or a plant. There were often amusing incidents which helped brighten the hard work and she enjoyed what she was doing. On one memorable day our workers picked and packed 1200 1lb punnets of strawberries. Rene did most of the weighing and packing. We feel very privileged to have had Rene as a friend and helper."
Tribute from Pat, Joyce (Gregory) and family.
Sally Aldous adds:
I have many happy memories of Rene who was always ready to help with any activities in the village. I remember well "curtsying" to her and Alan when they were dressed as "King & Queen" at the Golden Jubilee at Rosecroft and arrived in a horse drawn carriage. Rene's brother helped us here at Chediston in the 70's and grew many delicious vegetables for us.
