Sheila Clifford has brought the following to the attention of the Parish website.
Patrick Stead and GP Community hospitals at Southwold, Northgate (Great Yarmouth) and All Hallows are all destined to close if proposals set out by the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group go ahead.
A very poorly advertised meeting took place yesterday (11th June) and further consultation meetings are to take place as follows:
Edgar Sewter School - June 23 at 7pm
The Cut, Halesworth - 7th July at 7pm (Powerpoint presentation by Dr. Kell)
Great strength of feeling was shown by those opposing these plans at last evening's meeting. If you do not wsih to lose these facilities, then it is imperative to actively campaign to keep the facilities, and particularly our Patrick Stead hospital open.
There is a Public Consultation document available, apparently at GP surgeries (recently visited the surgery and never noticed it).
The proposal for Patrick Stead is to develop a new nursing home, planned to open in 2016; beds in local care homes would be used to support patients when needed in the time between closing hospital beds and opening the new nursing home. Greater emphasis is to be given to patients being treated in their own homes.
Webmaster - The Parish website is emailing our MP and County and Parish Councillors to ascertain their policy on this matter, if they attended last evening's meeting, if they were even aware of it, and if they intend to attend the future meetings. Any responses, or lack of, will be published on this website.
